An English by birth, William Penn was known as a real estate enterpreneur and a philosopher. he founded Pennsylvania.He was a supporter for unification of English colonies.

William Penn was an Englishman and the founder of Pennsylvania. He was a Quaker and purchased land in North America in order for Quakers to have a safe place to live and avoid persecution. The name Pennsylvania means "Penn's Woods." It was named after William Penn's father, William Penn Senior.
