It's a mistake. Deck stain is heavy duty for the purpose of protecting your deck from the elements. You don't ever give your hardwood floors that much beating.

It is not recommended to use deck stain when it comes to using interior hardwood floors. The reason why is because when you are using deck stain it will leave a sticky residue on interior hardwood floor and it will also leave a grainy texture when it comes to making the floor shine.

Deck stain has properties that many do not like to use on interior surfaces. A standard wood stain is preferred with a finish coat to seal and protect it.
