Huichol is the common name for this Mexican tribe of indians but the actually refer to themselves as Wixaritari which means "the people" in their native language. They perform Peyote ceremonies yearly.

They are an indigenous people of west central Mexico. They call themselves the Wixáritari which means "the people." An ancient people with a rich culture, today they are dirt farmers.
