The eye has many tiny blood vessels that a usually very hard to see...that is until one or more breaks. Then you will notice a discoloration in the sclera (the white of eye). These burst vessels are called subconjunctival hemorrhages. They can be caused by stress or injury to the eye.

There are many blood vessels in your eyes. Most of them supply blood to the major parts of your eye such as the maculae. Sometimes you can have a blood vessel break. It is not serious and usually heals itself within days. It is not painful, but looks like it is.

Even though our eyeballs look white for the most part, there are many blood vessels in our eye that helps provide much needed nutrients and oxygen to all the cells.
