Are your sights adjustable or fixed? If fixed, you can adjust with a brass punch or hammer, or by filing. Shoot a test group after each adjustment. If adjustable you need to check distance to target, elevation and windage. A safe range to zero is 50 yards. You should not change sights on 1 shot, but rather, after three.

The sighting is usually a bead type sighting so you line up the bead with the object you wish to hit.
