Ritalin and Adderall are used to treat ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder, and ADHD, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. They are stimulants that speed up the control centers of the brain, allowing one to focus to the point of ignoring most distractions. The drugs do, however, slightly increase the risk of heart beat irregularities.

Both are stimulants to adults, but can be very effective in treating ADD in children. If you have concerns about a medication, speak to your pharmacist.

Ritalin treats ADHD. Adderall treats ADHD as well as narcolepsy. They are in the same class of drugs, but adderall is more "fun" and desirable for recreational use. Most drug screens look for adderall; Ritalin, never. Children usually take ritalin and older teens and adults use adderall.
