If it's too young and needs to be nursing still it is hard to keep them alive, they do sell kitten formula in pet stores. You should get it's shots as well, especially if it's around children.

First thing you should do is see if the kitten will take some milk mixed with a little bit of water.

Depending on age and health, could go a number of ways. If it's -very- young you might have to feed with an eyedropper and baby formula. Old enough to eat on it's own? Soak the food so it's easier to chew. Also want to go to the vet for shots.
