What can you tell me about pet hedgehogs and echidnas?

They both make great pets and are very good with children. They are even tempered and rarely bite as they have a great personality. Hedgehogs and echidnas need plenty of food and water, and like to sleep so you have to have a quiet area for them to live. They like pairs.

Hedgehogs are common, but not recommended for smaller children. They're nocturnal so they will be active at night. Echidnas are Australian and one of only 2 mammals who lay eggs.

Here is the deal - Hedgehogs make absolutely terrible pets. They are really amazingly cute when they are little and they are docile enough when you first get them. But Hedgehogs are not suited for life inside your house, no matter how much care you try to give to them. They will turn against you.
