When painting a room, first you need to 'cut in'. Fill a small pail with paint and using a 3"angled brush, paint each corner (bottom to top) about 2"-3" outward.

The two main ways to paint the corners of a room are to (A) buy a specific edge-painting tool or (B) to use a paint brush.

The easiest way to paint the corners of a room is to use a paint brush. There are also specialized rollers that have thick nap on the end that can paint right up into the corner.

You need to cut them with a brush. You can use a roller for the rest of the room, but use a brush to carefully paint the corners. Put on a light layer of paint first, let it dry, then another layer. Use latex based paint, too. No need to use oil based paint indoors.

Two kinds of painting: wall and detail. Corners are details (also any edge of wall, ceiling, or woodwork). Use a small brush for these. Use a roller for large areas.

What kind of color you use. If same color of both walls I suggest to use a small roller for both walls. Upper corner you can finish with small brush. For different colors use lighter color first and as second darker. I had a best results with this method, better than with brush or special corners.
