Labor begins within 24 hours of a body temperature drop below 99 degrees Fahrenheit. During stage one dogs become restless, anxious, will not eat, may vomit, and uterine contractions should begin. As stage one labor progresses the contractions will become stronger and more frequent. Stage two begins with a puppy moving into the birth canal and the start of delivery.

As with any breed of dog, you need to make her feel comfortable and secure. It may make her feel more secure if you are nearby for emotional support.
