Cats get lymphomas more often than humans or dogs. It is more prevalent with cats who also have feline leukemia virus. The lymphoma is usually treated with chemotherapy and there is usually a good chance that chemptherapy will totally eradicate feline lymphoma.

Feline lymphoma, intestinal lymphoma, is the most common cancer in cats. The feline leukemia virus has been shown to cause lymphoma in young cats. Anemia is another common problem in cats with lymphoma. Lymphoma is treatable with chemotherapy, but it can't be cured. The survival rate with treatment is around seven to nine months. Some cats do live longer.

Sadly, lymphoma occurs all too commonly in geriatric cats. These is a slight chance if treated with a regular steady dose of prednisolone orally that the lymphoma could be sent into remission for a while. Cats tolerate prednisolone pretty well long term. It can also help them to feel a bit better and stimulation their appetites.
