What can you tell me about how to fix a chattering Subaru clutch?

The most likely cause of your clutch chatter is hot spots on the flywheel due to a worn disk and pressure plate. You have to replace both and have the flywheel machined (two-step if necessary). If the flywheel is also cracked (very rare), you'll have to replace it, too.

Depending of how bad the clutch is you may need to purchase another clutch before trying to work on your current one.
