Harley generator polarity is independent of the direction which the generator shaft spins. A rectifier smooths out the sinosoidal AC wave to create stable DC current, at approximately 12 to 14 volts using 2 poles, usually signed with "+" and "-".

If you want to return a Harley generator to correct polarity, detach connected wires and thrust a wire from battery to engine field wire, and touch them.
