There aren't any specific federal grants for single parents, but you might qualify for the PELL grant. You need to complete a FAFSA application to see what you qualify for. You might be able to find a private grant or scholarship for single parents on your own.

It is important to apply for state grants first due to earlier deadlines. However, the federal FAFSA will automatically send the applicant's info to the appropriate state agency. The FAFSA must be done online. Independent companies and non-profit groups such as the AAUW also offer scholarships and grants.

Educational grants can be found through the internet, through the US government, and through the college you plan to attend. President Obama has made more of an effort to reward grants to single parents, especially mothers. With a grant, you do not have to pay it back.

You will need to contact the school or college that you want to attend. Probably talk to a counselor and they can tell you the best to approach this. Usually a GED is a must and you will need proof that you have a GED.

This depends on if the grant is for you or child and if it is your first degree or not. Other factors include income, academic history, course of study and gender. All colleges and universities have a financial aid department, you need to talk to them. Your 1st move is to complete a FASFA form.

There are many grants available to single parents. Check with your college financial aid officer. Privately funded grants and scholarships vary from college to college.

I can tell you that it is hard right now. However there are many websites that offer educational grants you just need to watch out for scams. You can also contact your desired school and they can guide you through certain government funding options. However if you make a certain amount of money then you could be denied some grants.

There are a lot of educational grants available out there, and there are some that are meant specifically for those who are single parents. You can do an online search for such grants.
