Forensic hypnosis is used to help victims or defendants remember things they may have unconsciously repressed during or regarding a crime. Some argue that hypnotists can alter the memories that are discovered by forensic hypnosis, so most courts do not allow it to be used as evidence. Forensic hypnosis should always be done by a trained professional.

There have been some studies that show that patients whom undergo hypnotic suggestion are able to recall details of events. However, these are not admissable in court as a hypnotist can implant memories by accident, invalidating the witness.

This is a form of hypnosis used to collect evidence for court cases. Hypnosis can also be used for therapy or for stage antics.

Forensic hypnosis is a special type of hypnosis that is not used for stage antics or therapy but instead to help collect information for the police or for lawyers to use in court cases.
