What can you tell me about crank sensor troubleshooting?

Take it to the garage. Anything to do with a sensor has to be put on a computer to get a diagnoses. There is no other way to do it. The dealership may do it for no charge but a garage will not.

The crank sensor is the most important sensor in vehicles, so if something's actually wrong with it the car most likely won't start or will fail after minutes. A lot of the RPM calculations come from it, so if your RPM gauge seems off it might be the crank sensor.

It is normally an ac signal. You can take a multimeter on ac volts and connect it to the crank sensor while plugged in and check to see what kinda voltage is coming out of it when cranking the engine.
