An echocardiogram is a medical procedure that takes an ultrasound of the heart in order to "see" what the heart is doing. A bubble study can be used to get more from said ultrasound picture. The bubble study allows what is known as a contrast medium to make the picture of the bloodstream more clear.

An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. A slender camera tube is inserted through the mouth and down the esophagus against the heart wall. Bubbles help estimate valve function.
