You should DEFINITELY consult a professional. Call your local Humane Society and ask about availability of specialized classes for aggressive dogs (the Boulder Humane Society has a good class called "Grumpy Growlers"). There is no simple fix - lots of training is required, and you should definitely get help. Aggressive dogs are dangerous for people (you) and for the dog.

You should consider signing the dog up for training classes. If that does not work, there are special camps for dogs that will have full attention. They do take time, but many people find it useful.

Sadly there is not much to be done about an aggresive behaviour. Maybe you could try to get it trained. Leashing them usually gets the dogs to become even more aggresive, but leaving them unleashed could be dangerous, depends on how aggressive your dog is. So watch out.

I suggest taking your dog to obedience school using a professional is always recommended. Then you know your doing the right thing opposed to training your dog improperly.

Find a trainer who works (and has had success) with aggressive dogs. Never leave your dog off-leash or unattended. If biting is likely, consider a muzzle until training is complete.

You may want to really work with the dog my theory is the more you put into them the more you will get out of them in return. And if the dog is that agressive you may want to try and find out why they are not born that way I don't care what breed it is.
