What can I do to help my teenage son who is underweight?

He is probably going to outgrow this so don't worry much. A thing that you can do is take him to the gym and help him to get muscles.

Sometimes there is little one can do to change one's basic body shape. Some people are just naturally thinner then the majority. While it may seem counter intuitive, encourage your son to eat healthy foods such as quality meats, carbohydrates such as brown rice, and plenty of vegetables. These foods will put on healthy weight better then junk food.

Take him for a physical to make sure there isn't a medical condition that needs to be addressed. Make sure he is eating a balanced diet that includes a healthy amount of fat, protein and carbs. Weight/resistance training may help build muscle mass and increase his appetitie.

First, talk to his doctor to see if it's affecting his health. If not, then don't make it a big issue if your son is not worried about it.
