There are a few ways to discourage woodpeckers from wreaking havoc on a home. Visual repellants such as, Irri-Tape, which is a foil tape, can distract the bird with the reflection and scare the birds away. There is also sound repellants, such as recorded motion-censored hawk screeching that will also scare the woodpeckers away.

A good defense against woodpeckers is the use of wind chimes. Put wind chimes around your house on all four sides. The noise these make typically will scare away woodpeckers.

Just inspect the shakes around where the woodpeckers are doing the damage. then hire someone to treat the house and then woodpeckers will go somewhere else for food. If you find bugs you should hire someone to treat the house and then hopefully the woodpeckers will go somewhere else for food.
