What can I do if my dog does not want to walk?

First, make sure your dog is healthy, and in good health. If the dog does not want to walk, they may have an ailment preventing them from walking. If so, take them to the Vet as soon as possible. Otherwise, try to entice your dog to walk by grabbing their favorite toy, or throwing a stick.

First make sure it is not because of ill health or the dog being in pain. A check up at the vet should determine this. Make walk time exciting. Act enthused,use exciting words and an upbeat tone. Try bringing treats along. Offer a treat and praise,for example when you get the leash on. Then when he walks to the door,and the gate etc. Bring a toy along.

If your dog does not want to walk it is most likely because they are in pain. The pain could be arthritis pain. See the Vet.
