One great way to get kids to eat without them knowing is to make smoothies. You can blend almost any fruit, strawberries and bananas are always a great choice, and some vegetables like celery or add carrot juice. You can also use milk or soy milk and tofu to add calcium and protein.

He or she might have a psychological problem, a type of eating disorder, a fear of food that affects some children; see your doctor and use Ensure or some other supplement to give necessary nutrition until you find a solution to make sure it does not affect his/her growth and development.

Your child may have an oral sensory issue, do not force him or her to eat, place the food on his plate and give him a chance to eat it.

It's not uncommon for young children to eat very little. Just keep offering healthy foods and don't make a big deal out of it, sometimes it becomes a control issue.

Encourage him as best possible, and try and reward him for doing so. See what the problem is (is it the food, is he hungry, is there a physical problem), and then go from there. Also emphasis the importance of eating, and try and run with some angles from this.

You should offer the child healthy food and give him the power to decide if he is hungry. Give him choices instead of demanding that he eat a certain food. Remind him that it his body and it is his job to eat and keep himself healthy. Give him control!
