Check your neutral switch, it won't let the car start if it's bad. If that doesn't help check you linkage to make sure it is not binding.

The truck should be in park if it will not start, is the engine locked? Try jumpstarting, will it turn over? If not, could be starter problem or transmission lock.

Put the key in the ignition and turn 1 click forward. Then turn the steering wheel a few times in order to get the transmission to possibly shift.

Most automatic equipped vehicle have a park release button. The button will be located to the left of the gear selector at the top of the shifter housing. Locate the small cover, remove the cover and then use a small tool to push the button down. Once the button is pushed the gear, the selector will shift out of park.

Have you tried to get your vehicle out of park? Sometimes the vehicle will stick in park when the vehicle is parked in an uphill direction. Make sure you depress the brake when shifting from park. If that is not the case, Each automatic vehicle has a "manual" release to take the vehicle out of park. Locate and use that.

I would check to see if your transmission linkage is bound up somewhere. Another possibility is that if it has a cable, it could be stuck.
