The treatmenet for fever blisters are few. The most common treatment is usually nothing. They will go away on own. For appearances, over the counter creams may be used.

Over-the-counter medications that are Docosanol based can suppress the outbreak of fever blisters. Valtrex, Zoviraz, and Famvir are a few medicines. Spreading aloe vera gel from its leaves on the blister(s) can also help dry up the blister(s) as well as help with pain.

When my daughter had one, I used a little blistex. I also heard you can apply ice on it for the swelling in the blister. I would mostly reccomend that you call your son/daughters Pediatrician to see what they consider to be a safe corse of action. It will get better.
