It may be a sign of a urinary infection - this is the most common reason for cats to not use the litter box. They associate the box with the pain, so they do their business elsewhere. I would suggest taking the cat to your vet to have them checked out.

Move the plants where the cats can't reach them. Alternatively, put small stones on top of the soil in each pot. A last resort is orange peel in the pots.

Cats are used to urinating, climbing and doing such things. It is your responsibility to remove things that you don't want them to demage.

If your cat is urinating in your house plants they have a good reason. How many cats do you have? Do you keep a clean litter box, and if you have more than one cat, do you have one litter box for each one? Using scoopable litter can also help as a litter box can be kept cleaner.
