Untreated strep can lead to rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, cardiac complications, kidney infections, severe ear infections, tonsillitis, the flu and even death. Strep should always be treated with an antibiotic.

Strep would sooner or later go away but it can do lots of damage before it does. Strep can go to the heart or anywhere else in the body.

Untreated strep will not only make swallowing unbearable, it will leave permanent scars on the back of the throat which you will feel each time you eat or drink. The strep itself may leave a clone of itself in your body so now youll have strep throat several times each year.
