If your DVD player is overheating that badly then I would think you need to replace it or you can call the manufacturer and they may be able to tell you why it is happening.

If a unit is overheating and it is in any sort of entertainment center the first thing one should do is to remove it. Another option is to remove the casing and clean out any dust, as dust restricts airflow and causes overheating.

There may be something wrong with the cord to plug in the dvd player to the wall. Check the cord for what looks like bubbles under the surface, I you find any then do not re-plug the device. Call the company that makes the player and request a new cord.

You must place it in an open area on a hard flat surface. Make sure it's not sitting on another device that produces heat itself, like a receiver.

If your DVD player is overheating, you might want to place the DVD player next to a window, for more air circulation.

Well first make sure they are clean and the vents are not full of dust. Then place them in a spot low to the ground and away from heat.
