I have a 3 year old and when she is constipated i do one of two things. i either give her apple juice and it will naturally move her bowels or i put a small amount of kayro syrup in her juice and that will cause her to have a bowel movement.

This could be caused by many different things. First check with the doctor and make sure that there is not a medical reason that is causing it. If nothing, increase the amount of fiber in the child's diet, fiber bars, fiber wafers, etc. If that doesn't help, try using mirolax every three days.

A diet high in fiber and fluids will help constipation in children. Make sure he or she drinks plenty of water, and try foods such as bran cereal, raisins, dried plums, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid bananas and an excessive amount of dairy products, as these foods can make the problem worse.
