If you suspect that your cat has suffered a sprained leg, you should take your cat to the veterinarian as soon as possible before any further damage can be done. The cat's leg will need to be stabilized or else he could injure it more.

Rest and time is the best treatment for kitty's leg. It's not unheard of for a vet not to splint a sprain.

I would take him to the vet; it could be a torn muscle or broken bone, or indeed a sprain. Until you can get him to the vet, I would recommend keeping kitty indoors where he doesn't need to jump or run much.

Do NOT give your cat Tylenol or other human medication. If the leg is just sprained, keep the cat confined and make sure he is eating and drinking. If he doesn't show rapid improvement, the injury may be more severe than you thought. It would be a good idea to see a vet in any case.
