Water pills can alleviate retaining water in the body. They can be harmful if not taken as perscribed. In extreme cases dehydration can occur and patassium levels may be low.

Most people that take water pills because they retain too much water. Water pills will prevent your body from retaining too much water. Retaining too much water can cause high bloood pressure. Most people that take water pills have some kind of organ failure or high blood pressure and that is why they take them.

They are really called diuretics and they are used to remove excess water from the body, where the body is unable to do this for itself effectively. They work the same as coffee, only more so.
