What are the tax implications if you are working in NYC and living in NJ?

What you end up paying depends a lot on how much you make. In general, you pay New York State income taxes (which are withheld from your paycheck) and New Jersey credits you the amount that you pay to New York. You do not pay NYC taxes. Of course, you still have to pay all federal taxes.
