You will need bed rest if you:
1. have vaginal bleeding
2. have an elevated blood pressure
3. have a fetus that is growing extremely slowly
4. have severe vomiting.
5. have a heart disease.
Spotting, High blood pressure, the inability to keep down food, more than one baby, premature labor, diabetes, problems with the placenta and a history of miscarriages are some symptoms that can lead you to be put on bed rest while you are pregnant. Actually, any thing that worries one doctor can lead to bed rest.
There are multiple symptoms that can lead to bed rest while pregnant. They can range from pre term labor, high blood pressure, complications with the placement of the placenta, and lack of fluid surrounding the fetus to name a few.
If their is a miscarriage earlier then the doctor will advice the patient to be in bedrest or otherwise if they are pregnant after a longtime of marriage then they will be said or otherwise if bleeding is their or if problems is in the uterus then they are advised.
The most definite symptom is bleeding since bleeding pauses a threat to the baby. Also if you experience severe back ache, with abdominal pain, the cause is usually not obvious and so you would have to be put on bed rest so that you body can recuperate. Another symptom could be high blood pressure.
