Shingles is a very painful, blister-like rash that itches. It will keep you awake at night and distract you during the day. If you think you have shingles, make an appointment with your doctor asap - he or she can prescribe you medicine to lessen the pain and help heal the shingles.

Before the rash, burning pain is present. Then a red rash containing many small, red blisters forms. The blisters will form a band pattern that follows the nerve endings in your skin. They will usually pop and crust over, accompanied by intense pain.
