The dog will look for a place, dry and warm, and her vagina may show signs of dilation or even leak fluid before the puppies are ready to be born.

Excessive panting and nervous behavior, as well as the dog looking for a dark place are likely signs of labor starting.

My dog refused to eat anything the day her pups were due. As well, I took her internal temperature and watched for it to drop to 37.2 c. She was ancy and scratched at her dog bed.
