Hardwood floors are wonderful during winters as they are not cold. They could however get noisy if there is a hollow down below. The biggest risk is that of fires. You have to be careful not to let embers from the fireplace fall on the floor.

Hardwood floors look really great - rich and classy. Unfortunately, they get very dusty, but the dust tends to clump together into bunnies, which makes it easy to sweep up.

Hardwood floors are great for people with allergies as they will not trap in dust and allergens as carpet will. Hardwoods are easy to clean but can scratch easier.

The pros of hardwood floors are: the look, durability and cleaniness. However its not a very good sound barrier, and its hard on kids who are just learning to walk.
