The 240 Weatherby resembles a necked-down 30-06 with a. 243" diameter bullet. It is a very flat shooting round, and popular among varmint, coyote, and deer hunters. The round is fairly expensive, and will be too destructive for small game like squirrel and rabbit, and generally too light for larger elk and moose sized game. Perfect deer cartridge.

The. 240 Weatherby is currently the fastest 6mm cartridge that is commercially available. It makes an excellent deer cartridge, especially when used in a longer barrel. Some reloaders don't like how the. 240 WBY has to use Weatherby brass only. The. 240 Weatherby is not as available as. 243 rounds.
