The actual dimensions allowed for carry-on luggage can be different with each airline. However, it does appear that the most common dimensions allowed would be 22" x 14" x 9".

Different airlines have different requirements for carryon luggage, so you always want to check before going. Generally, you are allowed one piece of luggage plus a personal item (like a purse or a brief case). As a general rule, look to buy luggage that is 22" x 14" x 9" or smaller for American or United air lines.

It depends on the airline that you are traveling with. Each airline has their own set of dimensions The most popular roll on luggage is approximately 21" and should fit most commercial aircraft. The best way to ensure that your luggage will be accepted is to go directly to the airlines website, they will have dimensions available for you there.
