I guess that all depends on what model and how you are using the drill and how often. In my personal expreiance I have found that Hitatchi drills are the best for life. They are more intense and have a tendency to last longer than other drills I have used in the past.

Go for a 24v over a 12v for starters, Then look at good brands like Mikita or Black and decker. Hope this helps.

I have to admit craftsman 18 volt drill. The battery charge is within an hour and I can go a whole day on one battery as a heavy duty home owner user. Makita ,Milwaukee, are others with great value and long lasting in the for commercial field. I have used craftsman products and they have lasted up to 25 years.

Well, I would say that Hitachi and Powersonic make good ones. Dewalt is also very good. Another good brand is Black and Decker.

I have always used Bosch power tools and found that they perform flawlessly. I have a 5" random orbital, sander from them that is 15 years old now that still works like it is new, and the are still selling the same model. If you are a weekend warrior, reconditioned models may be found on the internet at a discount.
