Check with the local Department of Revenue to find out what is required in the way of a vendor's license and health department permits. You'll also need a tax number.

The "legal" aspects would involve obtaining the appropriate licenses to manufacturer the seasonings as well as health department permits to run a food preparation facility. As with any business, you would need a federal tax number. In terms of distribution/wholesale/retail sales, there are no "legal steps" that govern free enterprise per se.

Before you embark on selling your home made seasonings you need make sure your are following FDA standards. You need to obtain a copy of 'Overview of FDA's Food and Cosmetic Regulatory Responsibilities', and the FDA's 'Food Allergen' regulations. Then read the FDA's 'Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packing, or Holding Human Food'.

Start by researching the requirements for a business license in your city/state. If you are preparing foods for retail sale, you must have a facility approved by the Health Department, as well as a permit to prepare and sell food. Check with the Health Dept for details on how to proceed.

I'm pretty sure you can sell your seasonings without a license. you can sell your seasonings, as long as they're FDA approved, at any outlet, festivals, food or art fairs.

In order to sell food to the public you need to be licensed by your local health department. Then after you have a permit go to the local farmers market.

You will need to check at both the state and local level for regulations about preparing and selling the food product, as well as check with the FDA about federal regulations. You will need to decide where you will prepare the seasonings for sale and how it will be marketed.

You will need special licenses and health department permits to prepare food for sale. Depending on where you live, you will need a business permit as well.

make your own flavor and give it a unique name and you should be fine. Try using your last name as the name of it.
