What are the ingredients used to make lipstick?

Most lipsticks are made of a combination of wax usually beeswax,candelilla and carnauba wax,oil such as castor oil, vegetable oil,lanolin ormineral oils,pigments and dyes which determine the colour these can be natural or chemical mixtures,fragrances,alcohol,preservatives and antioxidants.

One of the main ingredients in lipstick is wax:beeswax,carnauba or candelilla which give lipstick solid form.Other ingredients are oils and fats like olive oil,mineral oils(lanolin,petrolatum),cocoa butter,sometimes pig fat or castor oil which give glossy finish.Shimmery lipstick may contain silica,fish scales and synthetic pearl.Pink lipstick contains titanium dioxide,long lasting one has silicone oil.Unnatural ingredients are lead,mineral oils,titanium dioxide,synthetic or manmade materials.

Glycerin, meadowfoam seed oil, grape seed oil, blackcurrent oil, beeswax and vitamins A, C and E are commonly found in lip care. Sugar is sometimes added for a smoothing effect. Mica is sometimes added for a shimmering effect. Titanium Dioxide is a natural sunscreen commonly found in lip care products.
