Do not eat foods such as anchovies, sardines, liver, scallops because they have high purine content which is known to exacerbate the symptoms of gout. You also might want to ease off with the gravy while eating your favorite fried chicken and take asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, mushrooms and green peas in moderation.

Most gout sufferers are beer drinkers. Beer consumption is nearly guaranteed to cause a flare up in patients with gout. Seafoods with high level of purine should be avoided. You should keep a diary to track the relationship between your food choices and flare-ups.

You should avoid goat meat. My Grandpa went vegetarian because every time he ate goat meat his gout would flare up. Goats are very dirty animals and carry many diseases.
