There are thousands of flying insect species living in Tennessee. All insects have wings in some stage of life, and many if not most of these can fly. Examples of flying insects are flies, gnats, flying ants, grasshoppers, dragonflies, butterflies, moths, damselflies, cicadas, true bugs, beetles, katydids, hoppers, and others.

If they are green then they maybe leafhoppers. They are harmless insects. The best method to avoid the annoyance they cause is to stay indoors or in outdoor enclosures. Spraying insect repellant can also help.
