You need to look on the package and find the date. If there is no date, I would not buy the product. It could have been sitting on the shelves for years. You should buy from a reliable store who deals with reliable dealers. It all depends what foreign foods you are buying.

Most products being shipped to the USA list at least a "best by" date on the can or bottle. So one looks for that.
