There are many different types of operational procrsses including materials management, production planning, manufacturing, logistics, and quality control. Within these, there are sub processes. For example, manufacturing can include fabrication, assembly, testing, and quality assurance. In business "operations" has broad and ambiguous meaning. I general, operations is where the mail value added work occurs.

There are many different types of opeartions. Operations are classified by whether they take place near a vital organ and whether the patient is awake during the process. Some operations do not involve vital organs.One type of vital organ operation is an open heart surgery.
