What are the current Affirmative Action laws?

Several states have created their own laws that prohibits favoritism based on race, gender, particularly when it comes to college admissions, public contracts and public employment. Obama had something to say about it prior to the election but to date no one has been able to decipher the comment.

A special set of laws created to address inequity's in hiring. Congress created these laws in the hope of leveling the playing field for a specific number of American's based upon the gender of the worker rather than the skill possessed
