What are the consequences for a child that is bossy?

My four year old is bossy.

Your child could become a leader in school. Being bossy isn't always a bad trait. Some kids might not want to play with them, but others will want to follow their directions. Think class president and the kids that puts together the homecomming dance. Plus they will grow out of most of it.

Short five to ten minute time outs, loss of privileges such as playing with a favorite toy are appropriate for a child of four.

The child might get too dependent on others and might also forget the value of listening to other people's opinion.

This means that the child does not respect the rights or opinions of others. If the child is bossy with other children, enforce taking turns in activities and speech. If bossy with parents or adults, enforce obedience - you are in charge, not the child.
