Since swimming burns more calories than many other forms of exercise, it would be advisable to maintain a minimum of 2500 calories a day. In view of the fact that all people and different, the wisest thing to do is listen to your body. Record your weight on a daily chart and adjust your diet accordingly.

The swimming will burn about 1200 calories. The intake would need to be about 3700 calories per day for a man to swim that much and not loose any weight. He can basically take his weight and multiply by 20 to get the actual calories that he needs. Also remember the food pyramid so that he is eating variety.
