The current "Big Four" accounting firms are PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, and KPMG. The firm structure has changed greatly over the last few decades, merging from eight firms down to four. Recent regulatory pressures have increased litigation risk for accounting firms, which many believe would lead to the next firm consolidation.
