A good choice is a white wine but it has to have a good quality. The taste of the wine should be a little sparkly and fresh. Serve it cold.

Crab legs have a nice buttery flavor. If you serve them simply, with melted butter, serve with a non-oak aged chardonnay or a fruit sauvignon blanc. If you choose to use a cream sauce, a more full-bodied chardonnay may be a better choice. With our local Dungeness crab, we usually choose Sauvignon blanc.

Two great choices to pair with crab legs would be a nice white wine such as a dry Reisling or a Chardonnay.

Seafood in general, including crab legs, is always supposed to be served with white wines. Red wine goes with heavier foods, like steak and beef.

We drink either a chardonnay that has not been aged in oak or sauvignon blanc with crab. The subtle fruitiness of sauvignon blanc is a perfect accompaniment to the sweetness of the crab meat.

If you like a drier wine, try a Sauvignon Blanc. If you want a wine to play up or match the sweetness of the crab, try a Riesling (Oregon or German are the best, imo). You could also try a lighter red wine, but in general tannins make crabs taste metallic.
