When you want the "best," I'll warn you, it will cost much more than the standard. The "best" material for decks that see a large rain has to be Timbertech or Trex. Both are wood plastic composites. Trex is easier to find, but has a chance to mold. Timbertech is harder to find but hold up better. Hope this helped.

The best thing to do is to put some sort of water sealing on the deck. Many times you can walk into a hardware store and ask them what the best kind. If you do seal it off, you will find yourself with a water damaged deck very soon.
